The week I was gone two big events happened, regional tournament and Monster Truck. I knew my crew was very capable of taking care of both of these events. They have for years now and could probably do it with their eyes closed. So I went on vacation knowing things would have been taken care of. But there was still things that I could only take care of and had to be addressed.
But the main reason I have been able to try to relive what could have been the best vacation I have ever been on was Hunter Hayes. Hunter Hayes chose Pikeville to launch his tour and spend two additional days here rehearsing. We were very honored to have him in our city and building for this special occasion. But it meant a long week of work for me and my crew.
Monday was a long day of playing catch up from the previous week and all the pre-show stuff for the rest of the week. On Tuesday we loaded in and started rehearsals.
Here is the stage about half way thru the day on Tuesday.
I am pleased to say that all went well and the crew was awesome. We all seemed to bond pretty quickly and everyone really enjoyed working together. Even tho it was a long day, it was a very pleasant day.
Wednesday was all about rehearsing. Hunter Hayes is a young fella, but is very talented. I was very impressed with him. Not only with his musical abilities but also his personality. He always took the time to speak to me and my guys. During lunch he was funny and spoke to everyone around him. He also held the elevator so that some of my crew could get on and not wait til the next one. He was very polite and just over all a super nice guy. I walked away from this show a big a Hunter Hayes fan.
During a break in the day the guitar player and the guitar techs decided they wanted to do some guitar shopping and ended up at Mountain Music Exchange. (our music store)
What was very cool was that I wasn't a factor in them going there. They asked on twitter and someone told them to go there. Don't get me wrong, I plug our music store every chance I can get, but I had not had a chance to tell them about it yet. So it was very cool they visited it on their own!
Wednesday night was more rehearsals but this time with the spot lights. Here is the stage that night.
Thursday was show day! Again, I could not have asked for a day to go smoother. I loved working with this show!!
Hunter put on a fantastic performance. The demographics for this show was young girls and man were they loud! He chose to go out into the crowd not once, but twice to other stages we had set up in the arena. My first thought was, "He is never going to make it out alive."
This pic is from the side of the stage where I usually sit.
Load out was another success for bt Event Services. The show was shooting for three hours. Being this was the VERY FIRST night of the show, things can take longer because some things will have to be re-figured. We did it in 2 and half. So hats off to yet another great show from my crew.
Friday was supposed to be all about blogging and reviewing. But things did not go as planned (of course). I did manage to start organizing my pictures from the cruise. But it is taking me quite awhile since we used three different cameras and I am trying to get everything back on my new laptop.
Oh yeah did I mention that my laptop decided it didn't like working anymore? The laptop with all my work stuff? Tony advised me not to touch it until he could get my stuff off of it because at any moment it could not start back up again. Thanks hard drive for the extra stress. But on the plus side I know own a brand new Dell that is honking!!!!
Its a monster. I can't wait til I can play some Minecraft on this thing...lol.
So there ya go folks! That's my week. I hope to be back very, very soon with some cruise reviewing. But in the mean time I will leave you with this.
See ya soon!
